The goal

The main goal of the present study, is to provide an in depth exploration of the psychosocial services provided to unaccompanied minors who live in long-term facilities, in order to firstly, generate a model of factors and processes which facilitate or hinder service design, delivery, and evaluation of psychosocial support for unaccompanied minors and secondly, to propose a set of guidelines for: (i) the development and implementation of psychosocial services for unaccompanied minors living in long-term facilities, (ii) the evaluation of these services, and (iii) the support of field workers by their organization.

RESEARCH PROGRESS

The study includes 4 phases. The 1st and 2nd phases have been completed and the 3rd phase which involves the collection of data through semi-structured interviews is currently underway.

COLLABORATIONS

In the 3nd phase of the project seamless collaboration is underway with ΙΟΜ and 11 NGOs which operate long term accommodation facilities for UASC, as well as with 11 CAMHS and child psychiatric clinics where minors with serious mental health problems are being referred to.

If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.
